New NDS Students Application

We are so excited that you have decided to pursue NDS at NC State. No matter your goals, NDS at NC State can help you achieve them.

YOUR SIX-STEP APPLICATION PROCESS

Step 1: Review Residency Requirements

Review the criteria for residency requirements, determining whether you are charged in-state or out-of-state tuition and fees.

Note: International students should review additional instructions regarding residency.

Step 2: Complete the Residency Determination Service (RDS) Form

Students should complete the RDS to show proof of residency to be classified as in-state for tuition purposes.

Step 3: Create an ApplyNDS Profile

For previous NC State students, you will not log in with your Unity credentials. Instead, you must create a new account to begin an application.

Step 4: Start a New Application

On the ApplyNDS Application Management homepage, select ‘Start New Application.’

Step 5: Complete the Application by the Deadline

Some students may be required to submit additional documentation. This varies student-by-student.

Please pay careful attention to required fields and documentation, and ensure that you complete the application accurately.

Step 6: Pay Application Fee

This is a non-refundable application processing fee of $40.

The $40 application fee is not required for Senior Auditors applying to the 65+ program.

Questions about your application?

If you have never logged into the NDS Application portal, visit http://go.ncsu.edu/apply_nds, and select ‘Create an account’ under ‘First-time users.’ Follow the prompts as necessary.

Physical Addresses and Email Addresses can be edited from the Application Status Page within your ApplyNDS account. If you have made other errors in your NDS application, please contact nondegreestudies@ncsu.edu. Be sure to include your full name and your application number.

Applications should be reviewed within five business days after applications and all necessary accompanying materials are received. If an application is submitted during peak volume periods, a decision may take longer to be processed. All decision notices are emailed to the address used to create your ApplyNDS account.

If you do not receive an email within five business days after submitting your completed application, please contact nondegreestudies@ncsu.edu for assistance.

Previous NDS students must re-apply to the program if not consecutively enrolled for fall and spring semesters. For example, if you apply and are admitted for a fall term but do not enroll, you would need to re-apply for enrollment in the spring term.

Senior Auditor Application Fee Waiver

Senior Auditors (65+) are not required to pay
the $40 application fee.
